about no bar code
éditions no bar code press is a Montréal hand-bookbindery located just north of Mile-End and just south of the Jean-Talon market area, in Rosemont-Petit-Patrie, or Little Italy, depending. We are situated in an old brick textiles factory at 305, rue de Bellechasse.
We bind new books and make blank books, repair old favorites, and will put any book you value into the binding you feel it deserves. We also make custom boxes of all shapes and sizes : clam-shell, photo boxes, and slipcases for your treasured volumes; small drawers, tuck-boxes, jewellery boxes, and book safes, as well as the fabulous merkinabox, the ideal box for all of you with an inner Las Vegas showgirl, which is made entirely with odds and ends of bookbinding leathers and recycled genuine and fake furs.
We use only vegetable-tanned bookbinding leathers for bookbinding projects. These leathers last much longer but cost a little more – your book and your pleasure are worth it. All boards and glues used are of archive-quality, and all blank books use low-ph, non-chlorine bleach, archive-quality wove or laid papers. We use high-quality linen and silk threads for our hand-sewn and embroidered endbands, or high quality machine-made endbands.
Please note that we do not undertake conservation work of historical volumes, and our production facilities are limited to 60 in number (ie, lettered editions).
We operate on a by-appointment basis, so that the appointments we make with our clients are not interrupted by telephone calls and walk-ins.
